The Foundation for New Monasticism is dedicated to the building and flourishing of new monastic communities throughout the world. These communities may have different charisms, from more contemplative communities resembling traditional monastic life, to those formed in inner cities dedicated to social justice or working with the poor. Some communities may be physical, others a network of like-minded people, some may be artistic communities or eco-villages, they may be composed of people from the same religious tradition, from different traditions, or even no tradition at all. Some communities may have elements of all of the above.
